Atlanta’s bioscience community was ranked #6 by Ernst & Young in 2006, and it has grown substantially since that time. The site of BIO 2009, Atlanta benefits from the presence of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Cancer Society and the Arthritis Foundation. With strengths in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and agri-bio, Atlanta has been ranked nationally in nanomedicine and has the world’s foremost imminent scholar in vaccine development. Georgia Bio is active in bringing together and representing the industry, providing educational support and legislative representation in addition to events such as the annual Georgia Life Sciences Summit. The Innovation Crescent Regional Partnership is a collection of 13 communities and organizations working together to recruit, retain and expand the bio-rich region stemming from Atlanta to Athens, Georgia, USA. |
